Certified CrossFit Instructors

The coaches at 5280 CrossFit have the ability to go beyond the movements and truly connect with our members.

They develop an awareness of each members potential and cultivate an atmosphere of success. The goal of each coach is to improve the lives, health and happiness of our members.

Coaching Philosophy:

With an emphasis on the long journey, our coaches prioritize safety and proper technique to provide the best hour of the day for our members.



We prioritize proper technique and form. Correct technique leads to efficiency and the ability to perform an exercise with the appropriate amount of relative intensity.


Relative Intensity

We coach each unique member to develop intensity relative to their level of increasing fitness. Intensity may look different from the outside, but every member finds a way to work hard (that’s where the magic happens).



Our methodology is not random. It’s a scientifically proven, deliberate program, which helps our members move every important quantifiable health marker in the right direction.

Email Jason

Jason is an avid CrossFitter who loves the Colorado outdoors. As a husband and father of three kids (from teenagers to a toddler), he aims to stay healthy and fit for the long run. He fully intends to engage in sports, hiking, backpacking, and fly-fishing with his kids well into their adult years. Jason was a competitive gymnast through his teenage years and enjoyed running and cycling through his twenties and thirties. He discovered CrossFit at age 38 and fell in love with the community, the challenge of the workouts, and the results.

Jason doesn’t consider anything from Apple, REI, or Macallan an indulgence. He prefers shorts to jeans and would love to never wear a suit again in his life – if at all possible. Colorado has always been, and will always be his home.


Samantha Hartwell

Email Sam

A San Francisco native, Sam grew up love playing sports! She dedicated a majority of her time to volleyball and continued playing and coaching at the Division 1 level. After college, she focused on endurance sports and has competed in numerous marathons and half-marathons. When she was introduced to Crossfit, she was hooked! She loves the challenge and camaraderie of the Crossfit community! As a coach, Sam enjoys helping people be happier, healthier and stronger through Crossfit.

When she is not in the gym Sam enjoys camping, competing in triathlons, hiking, cooking and enjoying everything that life in Colorado has to offer with her boyfriend Scott and two dogs Harley and Tucker.


Nick Graf

CrossFit Level 1 Certificate

Nick (3.0) has been CrossFitting since September of 2013 after he received a Degree in Real Estate and Construction Management from from the University of Denver. Nick received his CrossFit Level One Certificate in April of 2016 and has plans to continue his training in weightlifting, gymnastic, and CrossFit Level 2 certificates. Nick plans on using CrossFit well into the future to stay in a state of athletic prowess for as long as possible.
Nick is a newly minted commercial pilot who loves to fly planes in his spare time. He also plays hockey for the Pikes Peak Vigilantes semi pro hockey team. Along with being notorious for wearing boat shoes at all times and preferring shirts without sleeves (especially in the summer), Nick enjoys being laid back and relaxed but relishes in the challenges each work out has to offer.
